Maya Devi University School of Vocational Training (MDU-SVT) has been established with a vision to “train skillfully and practically” by adopting the most effective training methods and pedagogies to develop essential skill sets, ensuring that learners are work-ready and fully equipped with the knowledge and competencies required at the exit point.

With rapid technological advancements, tasks across industries have become increasingly skill-intensive, making it essential to reform training approaches and education systems to enhance workforce capabilities. Employers now expect new professionals to possess practical skills and hands-on experience even before entering the workforce. In developing nations like India, this challenge is amplified due to the demand for a skilled workforce. According to the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), millions of additional skilled professionals will be required across sectors in the coming years. In response, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced the Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) program to bridge the skill gap and empower youth with industry-relevant expertise.

Maya Devi University School of Vocational Training (MDU-SVT) offers short-term, medium-term, and UGC-approved B.Voc programs across multiple streams. These programs are designed in close collaboration with industry partners and subject-matter experts to ensure that the curriculum and training are aligned with practical, real-world requirements, preparing students to meet the expectations of modern employers effectively.

About the B.Voc Programme

The Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) is a three-year undergraduate degree designed for students who have completed their 12th standard or an equivalent qualification. Introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2013, the B.Voc programme offers multiple entry and exit points, allowing students flexibility in their educational journey.

For instance, a student can choose to exit after completing the first year and receive a diploma certificate. Similarly, exit points are available after the second year for an advanced diploma, or students can continue to complete the full three years to earn a B.Voc degree.

The programme is structured to provide students with practical, hands-on knowledge, equipping them to tackle real-world challenges effectively. Recognized as a next-generation vocational training programme, B.Voc focuses on industry-relevant skills and practices, with curricula developed in consultation with employers and industry experts. The ultimate aim is to make students job-ready and highly employable in their chosen fields.
